The Great BC Shake Out

For those of you that have concerns about the looming threat of earthquakes in our area, you will be happy to know that our educational system has been listening.  As most of you know, our lovely school did not pass the building code earthquake test.  Due to this scary fact, we qualify for a re-build!  Apparently, they will be breaking ground this year.  There will of course be MUCH more info on this subject as we get closer and closer to actualization.....   In the meanwhile, what would our children do if there IS an earthquake during school hours?  Well, thanks to Southern California Earthquake Centre at USC, our school will be partisapating in a province-wide earthquake drill:

At 10:00 a.m. on January 26, 2011, thousands of British Columbians will "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" in The Great British Columbia ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill in Canadian history! Check out  http://www.shakeoutbc.ca/  for more infomation and what part you can play in it as well.

Please note that our school does do regular drills as well.

Let's see...  On to other news:
PAC meeting was on Wednesday, and it was nice to see a few new faces.  We missed our School Council member Fran, who almost always joins us.  She was at the Cedar Grove PAC meeting bidding farewell to Cathy McCubbin who is transferring to Kinickinik

  1. I know one of the big reasons I home school my children is because of that building. I wonder if Gibsons Elementary 'inner school designation' from SD 46 has anything to do with them dragging their feet on this issue.
